We are seeking an experienced game developer to significantly improve the performance and AI behavior within our existing mobile RPG. The primary focus is on optimizing core gameplay loops – combat, exploration, and resource management – for a smoother and more engaging player experience on various Android and iOS devices. This involves profiling existing code to identify bottlenecks, implementing efficient algorithms for pathfinding and enemy AI (including behavior trees or similar systems), optimizing particle effects and animations, and reducing draw calls. Strong experience with Unity's performance profiling tools (Profiler) is essential, along with a deep understanding of mobile game optimization techniques. The role also includes implementing more intelligent and varied enemy AI, moving beyond simple scripted behaviors to create engaging tactical encounters. We are looking for someone who can demonstrate a track record of successfully optimizing game performance while maintaining or improving gameplay quality. Detailed documentation and regular communication are required throughout the project, including providing performance reports before and after optimization efforts. We'll provide access to our codebase, design documentation, and a dedicated QA environment for testing. The final deliverable will be a demonstrable improvement in frame rate, reduced memory usage and more compelling enemy AI.
