We are seeking an experienced Game Developer to significantly optimize and enhance the combat system for our mobile RPG, 'Realm of Shadows.' The current system suffers from performance bottlenecks on lower-end devices and lacks the depth of player engagement we desire. Your primary task will be to profile existing combat code (primarily using Unity) identifying and eliminating performance hotspots through techniques like object pooling, efficient data structures, and optimized algorithms. You will then be responsible for re-designing core combat mechanics to introduce strategic depth, including enemy AI improvements (utilizing behavior trees), ability cooldown management, and visual feedback enhancements. Furthermore, we'd like you to implement a new 'stagger' mechanic that adds tactical options during battles, and integrate this with our existing UI. Strong analytical skills are a must; you'll be analyzing player data to identify areas for improvement and iterating on your designs based on feedback. Familiarity with mobile game performance optimization techniques, including shader optimization and texture compression is crucial. Experience in implementing engaging combat systems within a turn-based or real-time RPG setting is highly desirable. We are looking for someone who can deliver a polished, performant, and captivating combat experience that keeps players hooked. The final deliverables include documented code changes, performance test results, and a demonstration of the enhanced combat mechanics.
